 Yoga Classes with Pam Chappell
In our modern rather hectic world more and more people are taking up the ancient practice of yoga, and they are finding within this philosophy that originated in India some 5000 years ago, a holistic approach to balancing body mind and spirit. An answer to many of the stresses and strains of daily life. Anyone can practice yoga regardless of age, sex or ability. In modern day yoga classes the postures or asanas are modified and adjusted to suit not only the fit and flexible but also students with conditions from pregnancy to arthritis. Through the postures (the physical practice of yoga) the body itself is strengthened and this helps to increase bone density. It becomes more supple which in turn protects the joints. Stamina and endurance are improved which is beneficial to heart rate and general fitness. Through the breathing practices we learn to breathe more easily and efficiently, and bring relaxation to the whole body. Most classes last between an hour and a half and two hours, in which a range of postures, plus modifications build up to stronger movements and “full posture”. Periods of quiet breathing and relaxation also form a key part of each class. For more information please contact Pam Chappell on:
